10-year-old girl raped in Jawzjan
KABUL: A ten year old girl was hospitalized in northern Jawzjan province after she was raped, officials said on Sunday.
The 10 years old girl was sexually assaulted in Dasht-i-Laili area of Qoshtepa district of the province on Saturday evening, the provincial public health director said.
At the outset, she pointed the finger at his step brother over sexual assault, but refused later on. According to the official, she rebuffed after possibly being received threat by her step mother and other relatives.
Confirming the incident, provincial governor spokesman, Mohammad Raza Ghafoori said the rape occurred by unknown people.
Considering regional countries, rape cases in Afghanistan are rare, but getting better as two people on Saturday detained in Kunduz province over rapping of a child.
Tough or even capital punishment for the rapist is need of the hour to end the scourge of rape in the country.
