107 insurgents killed in crackdowns

AT-KABUL: At least 107 armed Taliban fighters were killed and 34 others were wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) has conducted clearance operations against insurgents in different areas of Paktika, Ghazni, Kandahar, Badghis, Balkh, Kunduz and Herat provinces. In these operations 107 rebels were eliminated and 34 others injured.

The ministry claimed that 11 insurgents ware also arrested and handed over to the relevant judicial body. The national security forces also recovered weapons, used by anti-state elements, in the operations, the statement said. In the operation five ANA troops were also killed.
