11 local policemen killed, 20 missing in Badakhshan

AT News Report-KABUL: At least 11 local policemen were killed and 20 others went missing in northern Badakhshan province on Friday, said officials.

“Taliban attacked a checkpoint in Tagab district of Badakhshan, which as result 11 local police were killed and 20 other are missing,” said provincial spokesman, Nik Mohammad Nazari.

He said that operation started to find missing policemen.

Taliban also sustained casualties during clashes at least 18 Taliban killed in the incident, he added.

“35 to 40 local police were killed in Tagab district of Badakhshan yesterday,” said Representative of Badakhshan in Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) of Parliament Nelofar Ibrahimi.

She said that beside mismanagement lack of coordination among security organs were main factor behind killing of aforementioned 40 local police in Tagab district.

She asked all related organs to hold step and boost up coordination among security organs across the country.

Meanwhile another Member of Wolesi Jirga General Nazifa Zaki confirmed the incident and said that security plans must be revised for further security reinforcement.

Taliban on twitter account claimed responsibility for the incident and they said that Key Arbaki or local police commander, Zamir, of Kishm Badakhshan also among 46 killed yesterday in Tagab district.
