121 insurgents killed in raids

AT-KABUL: At least 121 militants have been killed and 70 others received injuries in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Sunday.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense (MoD), said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Kunar, Ghazni, Oruzgan, Zabul, Herat, Farah, Ghor, Badghis, Faryab, Balkh and Baghlan provinces, in which 121 insurgents, including 10 Islamic State (IS) or Daesh affiliates were killed and 70 others wounded.

In addition to that, seven militants were arrested by Afghan forces, handing over to the judicial organs for further inquiry.

Afghan National and Defense Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations, 56 Taliban terrorists were killed, 17 were wounded, vehicles and some round of weapons and ammunition destroyed in Moqor district of Ghazni–22 insurgents killed, 17 were wounded, seven suspects arrested and some rounds of weapon and ammunition destroyed in Chamtal and Chaharbolak districts of Balkh–12 insurgents killed, seven wounded and 10 motorbikes destroyed in Almar district of Faryab–10 IS affiliates killed and seven other wounded in Achin and Khogyani districts of Nangarhar–and 10 insurgents were killed and 15 other were wounded in Khakriz district of Kandahar province.

Similarly, six insurgents killed, four others including Taliban deputy shadow district governor wounded and two motorbikes destroyed in Dahana Ghori district of Baghlan–three insurgents killed in Shahrak and Dolina districts of Ghor–one insurgent killed, two wounded, a vehicle and two motorbikes destroyed in Balablok district of Farah–one insurgent killed and one other wounded in Chesht-e-Sharf district of Heart province.

In past 24 hours, nine planed clearing operations, and 89 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 131 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including nine strikes on the enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
