156 insurgents killed in military crackdowns
KABUL: At least 156 militants were killed and 57 wounded in intensive military crackdowns across the country over past day.
The defense ministry said the Afghan National Army in collaboration with Afghan National Police and National Directorate of Security operatives launched joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Helmand, Nimroz, Balkh, Faryab, Baghlan, Sar-e-Pul, Badakhshan, Herat, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Khost, Ghazni, Paktia, Logar and Nangarhar provinces.
Statement said that in these operations 156 insurgents including 26 Daesh affiliates were killed and 57others wounded.
Afghan forces arrested 10 suspects during clampdowns and handover them to judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, 23 Taliban fighters were killed, 14 Taliban fighters were killed, 15 wounded and two enemy hideouts destroyed in Andar district and Qala-e-Qazi area of Ghazni, six rebels were killed, 19 wounded and 13 grenade bombs seized in Khakriz district of Kandahar, four militants were killed and two motorbike of enemy destroyed in Khak-e-Safid district of Farah, three insurgents were killed and some weapons and ammunition seized in Yahia Khil district of Paktika, one insurgents killed and six suspects arrested in Zabul and Baghlan provinces.
Similar during airstrike, 68 Taliban fighters were killed, 10 wounded, four suspects arrested, five vehicle, two motorbikes and some weapons and ammunitions belonged to enemy destroyed in Ghazni and Paktika, 28 insurgents were killed in Sherintagab and Dawlatabad districts of Faryab, 26 Daesh fighters were killed and 10 others wounded in Achin and Khogianai districts of Nangarhar, seven rebels were killed and one wounded Khas Urzgan district of Urzgan province.
In past 24 hours, 20 planed clearing operations, and 102 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted 80 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 17 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
