18 Taliban rebels killed in Helmand as clashes continue

KABUL: At least 18 Taliban militants were killed and 12 others wounded after Afghan security forces fended off their attacks in southern Helmand province on Saturday night, officials said Wednesday.

Taliban had massively attacked the Afghan security forces checkpoints in Nawa district, ministry of defense said. With aerial support, the Afghan forces had retaliated the attack and killed 18 rebels.

According to the ministry, 12 more militants were wounded in the attack. A large number of their weapons and ammunition were also destroyed in the attack.
