20 Daesh fighters killed in Nangarhar

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least 20 Daesh fighters were killed in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, the Afghan interior ministry said on Sunday.

The ministry said that the operation was carried out in Abdulkhil area of Achin district on Saturday night in which at least 20 fighters of the multinational terror group were killed.

As many as 200 hundreds militants have been killed and many wounded during the past five days, local officials said.

Daesh fighters have suffered heavy casualties in the last five days as they carried out two large-scale coordinated attacks on numerous security posts in the district which were repelled by security forces.

Hiji Ghalib Mujahid, the district’s governor, said that if Achin falls to militants they could pose serious threat to Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of Nangarhar province.
