26m afs retaining wall constructed in Samangan

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Construction work of retaining wall, funded by the World Bank has been completed in northern Samangan province, an official said Saturday.

Rural rehabilitation and development director said the retaining wall—costing 26 million afghanis is 867 meters long, three meters high and 1.2 meters wide has constructed in Dara Zhondon Aibak village, situated near to Samangan River.

According to eng. Mohammad Yassen Zaheen the retaining wall could shield hundreds of private properties and acres of agriculture land from natural floods.

“The World Bank funded the project, worth 26 million afghanis,” he said

Complaining against natural floods in the season, a resident of the area, Abdul Ghafar said he has lost 1.5 acres of agriculture land. We was optimistic in the construction of the retaining wall and said it could enable them to sow crops and boost up their economy.
