29 prisoners released from Kunar, Nangarhar prisons

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: 29 prisoners were freed from prisons in the eastern provinces of Nangarhar and Kunar in compliance with a presidential decree, officials said on Wednesday.

Jail Superintendent Mir Hazrat Stanikzai says that the prisoners were released following a decree by president Mohammad Ashraf Ghani issued on the Eid Milad-un-Nabi three months ago.

He said based on the decree the imprisonment period of some other inmates have also reduced.

Attorney, Khalid Orya asked the beneficiaries to avoid committing crimes in future and stand beside their nation.

Waheedullah Kalimzai, provincial governor for Kunar who visited the jail, called it a seminary. “If law and rules are observed and respected, then the crime rate will come down and the community will see reforms.” He asked judicial organs to ensure justice for all.
