AT-KABUL: A 3-day anti-polio vaccination drive kicked off to administer polio drops to around nine million under five year old children across the country.
During inauguration of the campaign, the Minister of Public Health Firuzuddin Firoz, said that they will also provide Vitamin-A drops to around two million children during the campaign. He called on families to cooperate with vaccinators during the anti-polio vacation drive and make sure their children receive the vaccine. He said that the drops are essential for protecting children against the viral disease. He said that all-out efforts should be made to eradicate the crippling disease from the country.
A multibillion dollar immunization campaign over the past few decades has made most of the world polio-free. However, the crippling disease remains endemic in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nigeria.
