AT-KABUL: At least 31 insurgents loyal to the Islamic State, known as Daesh were killed and two others received injuries in eastern Nangarhar province, provincial officials said Sunday.
In a press statement issued here, the Ministry of Defense said that Daesh fighters were killed in Achin and Kot districts of the province.
Afghan security forces carried ground and air operations in the districts to suppress Daesh fighters where Daesh fighters sustained huge causalities in the operation.
Provincial governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyanai confirmed Daesh casualties and said that no civilians were harmed during operation.
It has been for two weeks that clashes between Afghan security forces and Daesh fighters are going on in Kot district.
Afghan security forces in cooperation with local uprising forces had killed hundreds of militants loyal to Daesh in the past two weeks.
