AT-KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani has approved an ambitious strategy of creating five million jobs during the coming five years. This strategy would be announced in the beginning of the new solar year.
The Presidential Palace has confirmed the strategy of ‘job creation’ in various government ministries and relevant departments, aimed at engaging our educated youth in the reconstruction and development of the country.
In the wake of unemployment that reached at boiling point, it is a great milestone to reduce the rate of poverty and unemployment by generating job opportunities.
After the initial approval of the strategy by the Presidential Palace, the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSMD) has finalized the strategy.
Spokesman for the MoLSMD, Abdul Fatah Eshrat Ahmadzai said the government is committed to implement it once it was formally launched and announced.
“Jobs creation strategy would be executed in close coordination with 24 government institutions within the next five years,” Pajhwok Afghan News quoted him as saying.
Moreover, concerned ministries and authorities have been assigned the task of identifying potential areas in the ministries having capacity of new recruitments, he said.
Commenting on the issue, Shah Hussain Murtazavi, Deputy Spokesman for the Presidential Palace, said the MoLSMD’s jobs creation strategy had been officially sanctioned by the Presidential Palace, adding comprehensive discussion on the strategy would be made in the National Work Conference.
According to Abdul Hamid Akbar, General Director of Policy and Program, investment, infrastructure, agriculture, construction, energy, transportation and dispatching work force to foreign countries are the main areas of the job creating strategy.
Estimated population of Afghanistan is around 30 million people. However, a large number of graduates have been jobless. The jobs creating strategy of the government is highly commendable. War footed efforts must be made to implement the strategy in true letters and spirit and further efforts should be utilized to make Afghanistan a peaceful and comfortable home to all the citizens.
