AT-KABUL: At least 60 militants were killed and 18 others wounded in different operations launched by the security forces within past 24 hours, officials said Wednesday.
Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Kunar, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Logar, Uruzgan, Nimroz, ghor, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Kunduz, Baghlan, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces.
Statement said that in these operations 60 insurgents including four local commanders were killed and 18 others were injured.
Afghan forces during operation arrested 30 insurgents including 19 suspected people and handed over them to judicial organs for further inquiry, added statement.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions by artilleries and air force
During these operations, 29 Taliban terrorists including four local commanders were killed, two wounded and two others were arrested in Washir, Sangeen and Nadali districts of Helmand, 18 insurgents were killed, six wounded and nine others arrested in Gilan, Andar and Jaghatoi districts of Ghazni and six rebels killed and eight others injured in Raghistan district of Badakhshan province.
Similar fiver Taliban fighter were killed, two other wounded and three stronghold destroyed in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz, two terrorist killed in Waza Khwah district of Paktika and 19 suspected insurgents were arrested in Zurmat district of Paktia province.
In past 24 hours, 15 planed clearing operations, 22 Special Forces operations conducted in 13 provinces; also, Air forces conducted 90 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 11 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
