AT-KABUL: At least 61 insurgents were killed in different crackdowns conducted by the security and forces in the past 24 hours, officials said.
The defense ministry said that operations were launched in Nangarhar, Laghman, Paktika, Paktia, Logar, Wardak, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Baghlan, Balkh, Jowzjan, Faryab, Kunduz and Helmand provinces, in which 61 militants were killed. In addition to that, 19 insurgents were wounded and four militants arrested during the attack, the statement added.
15 militants were killed and five others were wounded in Baghlan province, while in Paktia eight militants were killed and one other wounded, the statement said.
Moreover, six Taliban including one of their local commander were killed in Nangarhar province.
Likewise, 10 militants in Helmand and 4 others in Kunduz were also killed during operations, the statement said, adding that five militants were also received injures. Four insurgents were detained and eight other wounded in Wardak and Laghman provinces.
The security forces would not hesitate an inch to protect the life and prosperity of the Afghan masses across the country, the statement added.
Five Afghan National Army were also killed in fight against domestic and foreign insurgency, the statement lamented.
