62 militants killed in latest raids

KABUL: At least 62 militants were killed and 30 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Wednesday.  

Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Zabul, Logar, Ghani, Badakhshan, Kandahar, Maidan Wardak, Kunduz, Helmand, Paktiak, Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, in which 62 militants were killed and 30 others wounded.

Afghan security forces arrested four rebels and handed them over to the judicial organs for further inquiry.

Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During operations in the past 24 hours,  11 Taliban fighters were killed and three others wounded in Shah Joy district of Zabu—10 insurgents killed, three others wounded, four arrested, 16 mobile, 300,000 Afghani, one photo camera, five passports, some advertising documents from Taliban terrorists were seized, two vehicles packed with explosives, seven motorbikes and amount of weapons and ammunition destroyed in Baraki Barak and Nirkh districts of Logar—nine rebels killed, three wounded, one vehicle and amount of weapons and ammunition destroyed in Dehyak, Muqur, Qarabagh Gelan and Khwaja Omari districts of Ghazni—eight insurgents killed and 12 others injured in Wurduj district of Badakhshan—eight militants, including a Taliban group leader Khalil were killed in Maiwand district of Kandahar—eight Taliban fighters killed and amount of weapons and ammunition destroyed in Nirkh district of Maidan Wardak and two insurgents were killed and four others wounded in Dasht-e Archi district of Kunduz province.

Similarly, two insurgents were killed, 2 hideouts were and 5 rounds of IEDs were discovered and defused in vicinities of Lashkargah capital city of Helmand—two militants killed in Waza Khwah district of Paktika—two rebels killed in Deh Bala and Pachiragam district of Nangarhar and one vehicle filled with explosive was destroyed in in Sayed Karam district of Paktia province.

In past 24 hours, 15 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Afghan Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 13 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
