7 civilians killed, 12 injured in Taliban attacks in Laghman

AT-KABUL: Seven civilians were killed and 12 injured in two separate attacks of armed militants in eastern Laghman province, the spokesman for provincial governor said Saturday.

Sarhadi Zwak said five members of a family, including four women, were killed and 11, mostly children, were injured, when their house was hit by a Taliban fired rocket in Alingar district of Laghman.

The incident took place late Friday evening, Zwak said, who added all injured persons were shifted to provincial hospital for treatment.

Separately two civilians were killed and one was injured in vicinity of Mehtarlam city, when their car was blown up by militant planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on same day.

Taliban did not yet commit on the attacks, who yesterday started their spring offensive named “Azm” by launching armed attacks against security check posts in several provinces.
