74 militants killed in raids

AT-KABUL: At least 74 militants have been killed and 13 others sustained injuries in different crackdowns across the country conducted by the Afghan security forces in the past 24 hours, security official said on Sunday.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Kunar, Ghazni, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Urzgan, Farah, Badghis, Faryab, Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul, Balkh, Nimroz and Helmand provinces, in which 74 insurgents including a Taliban local commander, and two militants loyal to the Islamic State (IS), also known as Daesh militants were killed, and 13 others wounded.

The military operations against the force of the evil (militants) were also backed by airstrikes that caused huge casualties to them.

Moreover, three insurgent have been detained during raids and handed over to the related judicial organ for further inquiry.

In Helmand province, 29 Taliban militant were killed and one of their stronghold and some ammunitions destroyed. The operation carried out in Marja, Grishk, Sangeen and Nadali districts of the province.

In Ab Band district of Ghazni, 14 militants killed and seven others wounded, while nine rebels in Khashrod district of Nimroz province.

In Jaghato district of Maidan Wardak province, eight insurgents were killed, while four militants killed and three others arrested along with some ammunitions in Ghani Khil district of Nangarhar province.

Similar, three terrorists were killed and two other wounded in center of Paktia, while two insurgents were killed and two other wounded in Dehrawod district of Urzgan.

In Qushtepa district of Jawzjan, two Daesh fighters killed, while two rebels killed in Saiad district of Sar-e-Pul province.

According to the statement, a Taliban commander named Mullah Saleh was killed and two other wounded in Chamtal district of Balkh province.

In the past 24 hours, 13 planed clearing operations, and 20 Special Forces operations had conducted in 11 provinces; also, air forces launched 129 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 28 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries. ANA also discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition during operations.
