74 Taliban fighters killed in nationwide ops

KABUL: At least 74 Taliban militants were killed and 38 others were wounded during latest operations carried out by the Afghan security forces in different provinces in the past 24 hours, defense ministry said on Wednesday.

The Afghan security forces conducted anti-Taliban operations in Laghman, Ghazni, Wardak, Helmand, Badakhshan, Balkh and Kandahar provinces, in which 74 fighters were killed, the ministry said in a statement.

Another 36 Taliban rebels were wounded in the raids.

Also eight rounds of mines discovered and safely defused during operations in the mentioned provinces, the statement added.
