79 insurgents killed in military raids

AT News Report-KABUL: At least79militants were killed and40others woundedinmultiple extensive military crackdownswithin past 24 hours.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan NationalArmy (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan NationalPolice (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areasNangarhar, Kapisa, Khost, Logar, Paktia, Kandahar, Urzgan, Zabul, Herat, Farah, Ghor, Faryab and Helmand provinces.

Statement said that in these operations79insurgents including 11 local commanderswere killed and 40others wounded.

Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, 38 Taliban fighters including 10 local commanders were killed, 10 others wounded and two motorbike of enemy seized in Posht rod and QalaKah district of Farah, 14 insurgents were killed and 15 others wounded in Muqor district of Ghazni, 10 militants were killed, one wounded and 10 barrel of mines discovered and confiscated in DandPatan district of Paktia province.

Similar, seven insurgents were killed and nine others were wounded in ShahwaliKoat and Khakrizwal districts of Kandahar, five rebels including a local commander were killed in Grishk district of Helmand, five militants were killed and five others wounded in Arghandab district of Zabul province.

In past 24 hours,15planed clearing operations,and 66 Special Forcesoperations conducted in 11provinces; also, Air forces conducted 66aerial operations supporting Afghan National army includingfourstrikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANAdiscovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.

ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
