AT-KABUL: Eight-seven Taliban militants were killed and 89 others wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours, said Ministry of Defense on Friday.
In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) has conducted jointed operations against insurgents in different areas of Kunar, Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Paktiya, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Herat, Baghlan, Jawzjan, Balkh, Kunduz, Takhar, and Sar-e-Pul provinces. In these operations 87 insurgents were killed and 89 others received injuries. A Taliban militant was also detained during the operation.
According to the statement the security forces will “leave no stone unturned to protect lives and properties of the civilians”.
“Six Afghan National Army soldiers were also killed during the operation against local and foreign militants,” the statement said.
