95 Taliban rebels killed in raids

KABUL: At least 95 Taliban rebels were killed and 43 others wounded in latest military stings conducted by the Afghan security forces in the last 24 hours, officials said Saturday.

The Ministry of Defense said that the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Helmand, Herat, Wardak, Zabul, Kandahar, Ghor, Kunduz and Badghis provinces. Airstrikes were also carried out to destroy the militant’s sanctuaries.

Despite an ongoing peace talks between the Afghan government and Taliban delegations in Doha, the upper level of violence in Afghanistan remained unabated.
