Abdullah emphasizes on clean votes

KABUL: Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah on Monday has said that people expect the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to announce the result of presidential election based of clean votes.

Addressing council of ministers’ session, Abdullah said “we are at the doorsill of assessment of election votes, so we and the citizens of the country expect from the IEC to announce the election result based on clean and transparent votes with full independency and responsibility.”

He said transparent election would guaranty future stability and democracy in Afghanistan.

He insisted over transparency, while the IEC has once delayed the announcing of primary result and termed technical problems and efforts to ensure further transparency in the process.

IEC on Sunday declared 14th November the new timeline for announcing preliminary result of 28th September presidential election.

IEC Chief, Hawa Alam Nuristani said considering all issues, operation steps and commissioners’ views, the IEC has made decision to set the 14th November the new date for announcing preliminary result of presidential election.

She emphasized that “we are committed to impartiality and transparency and will defend from each vote of candidate.”

According to election schedule, the IEC had set 19th October for announcing the preliminary result of presidential election, but failed to announce on due date and apologized from the people.
