Afghan Premier League to start this week

By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL:  The Afghan league for association football clubs (Afghan Premier League-APL) will be kicked off coming Thursday in Kabul, said officials.

The ALP is a hope for Afghan among ash and smoke in this war weary country. Eight teams from eight different zone of Afghanistan came together here in Kabul to eat, talk, laugh, sleep and compete with each other, which generate a good massage of peace among Afghan nation.  Beside the teams people from different part of Afghanistan joining the team in the stadium or watching it live through their TVs across the country, where such programs can bring laugh at lips of every Afghans at this critical situation.

“6th round of Afghan Premier League will be started in coming Thursday,” said Commissioner of the League Shafiq Gawhari.

He said that eight teams from different zones will come together here in Kabul to compete in the league.

The league will be ended in October 20, 2017, he noted.

Mr. Gawhari said that “Establishing of APL six years ago was to improve and standardize football sport and train professional footballers in Afghanistan.”

APL exerts utmost efforts to identify best footballers and pave the ground for them for further progress in the aspect, he insisted.

He termed lack of enough budget and insecurity main challenge ahead of this league, adding that “due to mentioned issues the APL failed to cover all part of Afghanistan.”

Still APL struggle to have chance to cover all part of Afghanistan and establish clubs for training of footballs across the country, he asserted.

First Vice President for Football Federation Mohammad Yousef Kargar said APL had played a great role in improving of Afghanistan football teams in national and international level.

He said that Football Federation struggled much to select national team inside Afghanistan but due to lack of financial resources and opportunities federation failed to select national team inside the country

Football federation will take step to select national football team from 6th round of this league, he underlined.

He highlighted that Afghan players, who are outside the country also would have chance to select for national team

It is pertained to mention that Roshan Telecommunication Company and Pamir Company groups are those companies which supporting APL.
