AT-KABUL: A senior official of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Wednesday said that the Afghan soil will never be used against any neighboring country.
“Afghanistan will never allow its soil to be used against neighboring or regional countries,” said Gen. Murad Ali Murad the deputy army chief, addressing a graduation ceremony of 900 commandos in Kabul.
He said those responsible for war crimes in the country and the region should be identified. He said the international community should realize that what war criminals have done to Afghanistan, therefore it should do the same if they get the chance. “The war on terror started back in 2001 and is still continuing. The fight to eliminate terrorisms should target terrorists’ safe havens,” he added.
He said they have asked the international community not to call Afghanistan terrorists’ hideout. “Afghans have their own history and will never allow anybody to rise up from their country and pose a threat to the world,” he remarked.
He said everyone should realize their responsibility in this fight and shoulder it thoroughly.
He said the enemies faced with heavy defeats in past year and this year also their spring offensive has resulted nothing but defeat and bad name for them. He added that military operations were ongoing in several provinces and security forces have destroyed militants’ hideouts.
