Afghanistan confers prestigious awards on intellectuals from Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan

AT-PESHAWAR: A number of leading intellectuals, writers and academicians from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan included two women have been honored with prestigious national awards by Afghanistan government.

Dr. Hazrat Umar Zakhilwal outgoing ambassador to Pakistan on behalf of Afghanistan government has decorated the dignities with the prestigious awards included Ghazi Meer Bacha Khan and Malala Mewandi in a ceremony at Pushtu Academy of Peshawar University on Wednesday afternoon. On this occasion intellectuals and academicians from both sides have also expressed their views on ways and means for strengthening of cultural relations between the two neighbouring countries.

Advisory to Afghanistan President Dr. Lal Pacha Azmoon has read out the declaration of President Ashraf Ghani conferring National awards on several persons. They were included late Alamzeb Khan founder of Regional Forum for making hectic efforts for strengthening of people-to-people contacts between the two neighboring countries. The award on behalf of Alamzeb Khan family was received by Dr Farman Khan.

Others included aged journalist Pir Sufaid Shah Hamdard Founder and Chief Editor of Pushto daily Wahdat, senior journalist and former President of Peshawar Press Club, Khyber Union of Journalist and Vice President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist Shamim Shahid, Pushto writer and editor of Leekwal Magazine Mr. Noor Ul Bashar Naveed, Prof. Dr. Abaseen Yousafzai, Prof. Dr. Salma Shaheen, Hasina Gul Tanha, Prof. Dr Khair Muhammad Arif, Tahir Afridi and Darwesh Durrani.

Intellectuals like Afrasiab Khattak, Prof. Dr. Salma Shaheen, Dr. Fazal Rahim Marwat, Dr Meraj Ul Islam, Dr Fakhar Ul Islam and others have ready brief but comprehensive speeches insisting on strengthening of bilateral cultural and academic relations between the two countries. Prof. Dr Muhammad Abid Pro Vice Chancellor of Peshawar University also addressed the ceremony.

In his key and concluding address Ambassador Hazrat Umar Zakhilwal who is also special advisor to President Ashraf Ghani recalled his hectic efforts for cementing of bilateral trade and diplomatic relations between the two countries. He said that as a result now at various forums, efforts are yielding results regarding going for intra Afghan dialogues. He said that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is much in interests of Pakistan, therefore, they welcomes Pakistan to ensure its hectic role in this respect. He shown satisfaction over recent meetings and parlays with high ranking Pakistani authorities regarding bilateral talks and contacts with each others.
