Afghanistan U-19s Defends its Championship at Asian Premiere League

Afghanistan U-19s successfully defended its title in the Asian Premiere League games and earned the championship once again. The Asian Premiere League began on 28th August in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur and ended on 3rd September. The defending champion Afghanistan beat all opposite teams easily and remained the champion.

Today, Afghanistan played its final match against the host Malaysia. Malaysia won the toss and elected to bat first. The Afghan bowling attack produced brilliant bowling performance once again and bowled out all Malaysian team for 105 in 49.1 overs. Singh (57) was the top scorer for Malaysia. Navin-ul-Haq registered 6/26 bowling figures while Rasheed Khan produced a 3/12 (10 overs) performance.

Afghanistan U-19s chased the target in 21st over of the innings after losing three wickets.. Hazrat Zazai has played another outstanding 60-runs innings. Wahidullah Shafaq remained not out scoring 23 runs. This is fifth consecutive victory of Afghanistan which helped the team remain at the top of the table from the start to end.

Afghanistan topped the chart with 10 points and defended the title. Navin-ul-Haq was named Player of the match while Hazrat Zazai was named player of the tournament.

Afghanistan Cricket Board chairman Nasimullah Danish and CEO Shafiqullah Stanikzai congratulates the nation for the championship. They said that the performance of the national U-19s team has proved that the future of Cricket is bright in Afghanistan.
