AT-KABUL: Afghan National Army (ANA) kicked off fresh clearance operation against militants in eastern Kunar province, the army press office in Nangarhar said on Sunday.
The joint operation codenamed Tofan-4 (Storm-4) was launched on Sunday morning by the 201st Selab Military Corps in Sawkai district of eastern Kunar province, the army press office in Nangarhar said in a statement issued here.
The operation was started jointly with Afghan National Police (ANP), Afghan Local Police (ALP) and personnel of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the statement said.
The aim of the operation is to “improve security” and to “pave the way for better governance” in the isolated areas.
The development and achievements of the operation will be shared with the media outlets later, the statement said.
