KABUL: A teenage girl has objected to a court ruling two years against four men convicted of sexual assault in northern Afghanistan. Police officials say that four men convicted of raping the teenager in Balkh who were sentenced to 3 months in prison had served their time and then freed.

After the rape victim’s complaint, police officials in Balkh province have restarted investigations to find the perpetrators.

Days ago, a 15-year-old girl appeared in media to ask for punishment of four men who sexually abused her. She said she had been taken to Balkh province from Kabul where she was raped by the man, his sons and son-in law.

It prompted President Ghani to issue a decree ordering Attorney General Office and National Directorate of Security to investigate. Ghani’s spokesman, Sediq Sediqqi, said the government will make sure the victims receives medical treatment.

Balkh police spokesman, Adelshah Adel, says the rape happened in 2019 when the girl is sexually assaulted by six men. She had to live under horrible conditions in a house for several months. Then, a neighbor saves her and both of them abscond to Pakistan and get deported back to Mazar-e-Sharif city where she is again raped by that man. She files a complaints with the police department.

According to police spokesman, the police arrested four people in connection with the sexual assault and a court sentenced them to three months in prison each. All of them were released after serving their time, he said.

The police sends her to a shelter in Mazar-e-Sharif city, where she committed suicide and broke her back.
