KABUL: The bodies of 29 Afghan refugees who drowned in a Turkey river, arrived in Kabul on Wednesday.
Omar Saboor, head of Kabul International Airport, said that the bodies were handed to their families.
A boat transporting illegal refugees from different nations including Afghanistan sank one month ago in Turkey.
The Afghan Embassy to Ankara says that most of the bodies could not be identified since they were under water for several weeks.
Thousands of Afghans illegally go to Turkey every year to head for Europe to seek a better life. But many of them lose their lives on the way.
The government calls on people not to head illegally for Turkey. The Turkish border guards have so far killed several Afghans who tried to illegally enter the country.
