Changes imminent in electoral system

AT-KABUL: Changes in the system of electoral commission are imminent, said head of the body, adding that no changes would be brought to its leadership.

Abdul Badee Sayyad said Wednesday that bringing changes in the independent election commission would make fresh problems instead of lifting the previous ones.

He offered concern over the July’s presidential election budget, saying that both government and international allies had assured the commission over the financial assistance.

The commission, meanwhile, announced the final results of last October’s parliamentary election for the provinces of Sar-e-Pul, Kapisa and Panjshir.

There are concerns over the system of the election commission and observers including the US embassy to Kabul demand basic reforms.
