China reiterates support for Afghan-owned peace process

KABUL: Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mr. Idrees Zaman on Sunday met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Kabul Mr. Liu Jinsong, where they discussed issues related to mutual issues and China has once again reiterated full support to the Afghan-owned peace process.

Deputy Minister Zaman, appreciating China’s assistance for Afghanistan, deemed China’s contribution in Afghanistan – Pakistan – China trilateral meeting as significant and called for further cooperation in this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement sent to Afghanistan Times.

Supporting the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned Peace Process, the Chinese Ambassador added that the Chinese government would increase the number of short-term training scholarships for the diplomats and the administrative staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.

The two sides discussed bilateral, regional, and multilateral cooperation and the current political situation of the country, the statement added.
