‘Discussions continue for inclusive govt in Afghanistan’

KABUL:  Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, a senior member of the Taliban’s political office said on Saturday that consultations are going on with different ethnicities and political parties about the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan.

Addressing the country on the national radio and television station, Stanikzai stressed the inclusion of all sections of the Afghan society in the government.

Stanikzai called on the people of Afghanistan to work together for permanent peace and stability in Afghanistan.

He cited the remarks amid fleeing of thousands of people from the country, fearing the Taliban ruling. Many of the fled include high-profile figures, government officials, experts, and top media workers.

He vowed to bring reforms in the formation of the future government that would observe talent and quality as top priority for the selection of officials. Stanikzai called on the people not to flee their country and resume their previous jobs as the country needs their talents.

Stanikzai said, as the Taliban announced a general amnesty and they are committed to implement it, ordering the Taliban fighters to not create problems for the people and refrain themselves from entering to people’s houses.

He said stressed on equal rights for men and women under Islamic law.

Stanikzai said schools and educational institutions will be reopened soon, shedding light on the importance of education in the country and directed provincial education departments to solve the problems of students.

This top member of the group’s political office said that it is the responsibility of the Taliban to protect the lives of people and ensure security nationwide. He vowed to bring the economical experts from abroad to work for the development of Afghanistan.

Stanikzai said we want to have good relations with our neighboring countries,  urging non-interference in the internal affairs of each other, he said we are committed to promoting cultural, linguistic, political and economic relations with our neighboring countries.

According to him, a prosperous, developed and peaceful Afghanistan is for the benefit of the entire world.
