District chief, director communication dead in Takhar blast

KABUL: At least four people, including Ashkamish district chief and director communication, were killed in a mine blast on Sunday in northern Takhar province, an official said.

Sunatullah Taimoori, the governor’s spokesman, said district chief Abdul Hamid Haqjo was on his way to a check post in Qara Teepa when his vehicle hit a roadside mine.

The district chief, director communication Juma Khan and two guards were killed instantly, he said, adding that investigations had been launched to nab the perpetrators.

Jamrooz, a resident of the area, said: “Taliban have attacked the check post. The district chief was coming to visit the area but a landmine hit his vehicle. He died on the spot.”

Taliban have not commented on the incident. (PAN)
