Dozens dead in wave of terrorist attacks across Nangarhar
By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: A series of suicide attacks and explosions hit different locations in eastern province of Nangarhar on Tuesday, killing 32 people and injuring over 128, officials said.
A suicide bomber rammed into a throng of protesters in Mohmand Dara district on the highway between the eastern Jalalabad city and the Torkham crossing, an attack which left 32 dead and more than 124wounded, said Nangarhar Governor Spokesman Attaullah Khogiani.
Inhabitants of Achin district converged in Mohmand Dara district to protest against alleged atrocities of a local police commander.
Khogiani said Nangarhar was also hit by three consecutive blasts in the morning, in which a teenager was killed and four others wounded. An explosive mine went off in Behsood district early in the morning and left a few civilians killed and injured.
He said that another mine was neutralized by Afghan forces in 3rd PD in Jalalabad city.He said that one civilian was wounded in 3rd PD incident. At the same time also another mine exploded in 6th PD in Jalalabad city, which had no casualties, he underlined.
Member of Provincial Zabihullah Zemarai said that one of the blasts took place near a school in Nangarhar.
Taliban rejected their fighters’ involvement in today’s attack in Nangarhar, the group spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in telegram said that today Nangarhar blasts have nothing to do with the Mujahedeen.
Both Taliban and Daesh are actively operating in different districts of this eastern province. Nangarhar was witness of multiple terrorist attacks in the past three months, where mostly Daesh claimed responsibility for the attacks in the province.
