Dozens of militants killed in military raids
AT-KABUL: A major counter-terrorism campaign across the country has resulted in the killing of more than 60 insurgents as 36 others were hurt in the past day.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Ghazni, Khost, Maidan Wardak, Paktia, Urzgan, Badghis, Faryab, Takhar, Kunduz, Nimroz and Helmand provinces.
Statement said that in these operations60insurgentswere killed and 36others wounded.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours,30 Taliban fighters were killed and 13 other wounded in Qara Bagh, Ajristan, Andar districts and center of Ghazni, 13militants were killed and 10 others wounded in Trinkot center of Urzgan, seven insurgents were killed, four wounded and a suspect arrested in Garmsir and Nawa districts of Helmand. Also three strongholds with 10kg explosives, 36 rounds of mine with some other ammunition destroyed in Helmand.
Similar, five militants were killed and seven others wounded in Ghormach district of Faryab, three insurgents were killed in Parchaman district of Farah, two rebels were killed in Sarobai district of Paktika and two insurgents wounded in Shahjoi district of Zabul province.
In past 24 hours,10planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted100aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including nine strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
