AT-KABUL: Five fighters of the Islamic State (IS) also known as Daesh, were killed in a US drone strike in eastern Nangarhar province, local officials said Tuesday.
The provincial governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani said that the drone was targeted the hideouts of Daesh militants in Shadal locality of Achin district. “The fighters were killed when they were attempted to hide themselves,” he said.
“Drone strike the target place, in which five Deash militants were killed,” he added.
Moreover, Khogyani said the security forces had launched a clearing operation in Ghanikhel district of the province aimed at providing peaceful life for the residents.
He added that 13 villages had been cleared of insurgents as a result of operations.
