Education, counternarcotic officers of Badghis held for duty dereliction

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Attorney General Office (AGO) arrested counternarcotics and education officials of western Badghis province for alleged negligence of duty, said an official source.

MirwaisMirzakwal, spokesman for the provincial governor office, a commission comprised of the AGO and National Directorate of Security (NDS) has visited the province to assess performance of the local administration.

“The commission arrested the provincial directors of education and counternarcotics for alleged duty dereliction,” Radio Azadi quoted Mirzakwal as saying.

Safia Aymaq, a lawmaker form Badghis province, said that despite the two directors, the commission has also held advisor and administrative head of the provincial education directorate.

She said that the officials became scapegoat due to differences between the acting governor of Badghis and the provincial NDS chief.

A member of Badghis provincial council told Azadi Radio on condition of anonymity that the two directors were arrested for embezzlement.
