AT News Report-KABUL: Officials at the Transparent Election Foundation of Afghanistan (TEFA) said Saturday that election crisis is getting deeper by passing each day, warning that fraudulently elections is in the looming.
TEFA termed government’s meddling in elections, and its recent problem with political parties as a key dilemma in the way of free, fair, and transparent elections.
Noting difficulties, TEFA warned of a widespread fraud in the upcoming elections. TEFE expressed its deepest concern over upcoming elections, terming meddling of government into Independent Election Commission’s work as a core problem.
“Meddling of Political Parties as well as internal and external interventions in the process, and rivalries between political teams within the country, could probably mar having free, fair, and transparent elections,” said Head of TEFA, Naeem Ayubzada.
This comes as members of major political parties and movements met with government representatives and election commissioners on Saturday to discuss their demands regarding the upcoming elections.
However, the three-hour meeting ended without any resolution having been reached, it has been reported.
Political parties have called for a number of changes, including the election system, the use of a biometric system at the polls and the right to monitor elections by them.
