Five local policemen killed in Takhar

AT News

KABUL: Five members of the Public Uprising Forces were killed after the Taliban rebels attacked their checkpoint in northern Takhar province, provincial officials said on Monday.

Another three members were wounded in the attack that had taken place in Jarqishlaq village in Baharak district.

A number of Taliban insurgents were also killed in the attack, provincial police spokesman said, but fell short over exact numbers.

At least 15 members of the public uprising forces had been killed recently in a similar Taliban attack on their seven checkpoints in the province.

This is as the Afghan government had accused the Taliban for abusing the ceasefire. The National Security Councils said that the Afghan security forces upheld the ceasefire agreement and preserved their defense position.
