AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security said on Saturday that its operatives arrested a four-people gang involved in abductions, releasing a four-year old boy held by them in the southern province of Helmand.
The group with a woman as a member was arrested through an operation on the outskirts of Lashkargah city, the provincial capital.
“The group was led by Qudratullah and had demanded 25,000 dollars for releasing of Shafiullah,” the statement said.
The released boy was handed over to his family. The arrested people have confessed that they had hands in different abduction cases before this, it said.
Separately, the National Directorate of Security said that a huge cache of ammunition was discovered in seized in Helmand province.
“88 rocket-propelled grenades, two manually rocket bombers, a self-made remote controlled car bomber, a PK weapon bomber with 25 bullets, radio handsets, mortar rounds and some others weapons were sized form the insurgents,” the statement said.
Two mafia lords Habib Istalif and Raees Khudaidad were arrested and executed in 2015.
