Helmand suicide attack leaves three dead, two wounded

AT-KABUL: At least three people were killed and two injured Sunday after a suicide bomber blew himself up in the southern Helmand province, provincial officials said.

“The attacker detonated his explosives in a busy market of the Garmsir district today afternoon,” a police officer in the area told Afghanistan Times via phone.

“Two police officers and one civilian were killed and two civilians were injured,” said the officer, who asked not to be named, because he was not authorized to speak to media.

He said that Abdul Wali, a tribal elder was also among the dead. Wali was supporting the government.

He called it an act by the enemies of Afghan nation, which caused killing and wounded of innocent people in the district.

No armed group including Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
