Husband kills wife, mother-in-law in Herat

AT-KABUL: A man shot his wife and mother in-law dead in the western Herat province, provincial officials said on Tuesday, an incident likely because of family problems.

“Efforts are underway to detain the culprit,” provincial police spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said.

Ahmadi did not provide more details regarding the killing and its motivation behind.

Violence against women has been increased in the country in the past month. Recently a woman was brutally stabled to death in Pul-e-Khumri city of northern Baghlan province. Other incident of it is nature comes after a 20 years old woman was brutally tortured by her husband in the same province.

The most heartbreaking news took surface to the media that was a marrying of six years old girls with an Afghan cleric about 60.

Mohammd Karim who married this little girls, was detained in Ghor province. He said that he married the child as a religious offering, adding that the parents of the girl were fully aware of their marriage. Fortunately, the father of the innocent face girl also detained.

In another act of violence, a horrific video has emerged online which purportedly shows the execution of a woman by the Taliban insurgents in northern Jawzjan province.

The execution is carried out by a Taliban insurgent who has covered his face with a scarf and shooting the woman with an Ak-47 rifle from behind.

Moreover, the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) in its report released late in November last year said “statistic of violence against women, obtained from the registered cases of violence against women during the first six months in 1394 exceeds 2579 cases.”

The report further added that figure was reported 2403 cases during the six months in 1393 which shows 7.32 percent increase in 1394, the last solar year.
