Indian embassy in Kabul celebrates 66th Republic Day of India

AT-KABUL: The Embassy of India in Kabul celebrated the 66th Republic Day of India on Monday.

A press release emailed by the Indian Embassy in Kabul said that ambassador of India, Amar Sinha hoisted the Indian National Flag at a colorful function in the newly constructed Indian Embassy complex in Kabul.

The function was attended by local Indian community and Afghans of Indian origin in Kabul which turned out in large numbers to mark the anniversary of India becoming a Republic on 26th January, 1950.A few Afghan friends had also joined the function.

The ambassador read the Republic Day Speech of the President of the Republic of India and also recalled that it was in Kabul a hundred years ago in 1915 that the first Provisional Government of India was established in Kabul.

He wished a very happy Republic Day to all Indians in Afghanistan and noted with satisfaction the good work being done by them in the development and reconstruction of Afghanistan.
