Islamabad invites New Delhi to conference on Afghanistan

 

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Pakistan has invited Indian External Minister, Sushma Swaraj, to attend a crucial regional conference on Afghanistan in Islamabad next month.

An English language daily in Pakistan, The Express Tribune, quoted a senior Pakistani foreigner official as saying: “A formal invitation has been sent to India and 25 other countries for the Heart of Asia ministerial meeting on Afghanistan.”

The key regional conference is expected to take place on 7th and 8th December in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. Different regional and world countries, including Azerbaijan, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and India have been invited to attend the conference.

An Indian diplomat, on condition of anonymity, confirmed to The Express Tribune that New Delhi has received the invitation but said the decision on whether the external affairs minister will attend the conference has yet to be taken.
