KABUL: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Tuesday said security forces have regained control of Jawand district in western Badghis province, clearing the area of insurgents.
The district was fallen to Taliban two days back. Najib Danish, MoI deputy spokesperson, tweeted: “An hour ago Jawand district of Badghis province was cleared of enemies of Afghanistan’s.”
MoI also said in a statement the district was regained after a joint operation launched today morning. The statement added security forces had a tactical retreat to the vicinities of the district two days ago.
The clearing operation is still underway to flush out remnants of Taliban, the statement added. Taliban have not commented on the incident as of yet. (PAN)
