Karzai praises peace council’s achievements

AT News Report-KABUL: Hamid Karzai, the former president in a meeting with the head and members of the high peace council, praised the council’s recent achievements in the peace process.

In the meeting with Mohammad Karim Khalili, head of the high peace council and a number of its members, Karzai called peace “a vital matter” for Afghans, saying the council had worked hard and had achievements in the peace efforts.

He promised any cooperation with the high peace council, saying he would not spare any efforts that bring peace to the country.

This comes as on Sunday Khalili emphasized on further peace and reconciliation efforts to bring peace and stability in the country.

He said Taliban militants have been taken control over a number of areas and battlefield was expended day by day. Khalili has been engaged in consultation with people from every walk of life to pave way for peace and reconciliation with anti-government armed groups.

Moreover the HPC informed lack of contacts with the Taliban militants for the last four months, but according to HPC a number of Taliban militants are deeply interested in reconciliation with the government.
