AT News Report-KABUL: The ex-President Hamid Karzai said that Afghanistan’s success against the menace of extremism and terrorism lies in national unity.
Talking to a gathering on the occasion of the 20th death anniversary of the founder of Wahdat-e-Mili party, Abdul Ali Mazari, Hamid Karzai said Afghanistan was on the right track to development. “Afghanistan is in a better situation, than it was five years ago and I am confident that the country was on course for a brighter future,” Karzai added.
Hinting at recent incidents of attack on a Khanqah (a place where Sufis worship) and abduction of 30 passengers in Zabul, Hamid Karzai said roots of terrorism and extremism lie beyond Afghanistan’s borders. “Our success against militancy lies in national unity and our support to the government,” he stressed.
Karzai called on people to support the government of national unity in its efforts to bring lasting peace to Afghanistan.
He urged Afghan youth to excel in different fields of education to steer the country towards development.
Hamid Karzai called on religious scholars and tribal elders to promote education.
