Khalilzad unhappy with “not serious actions” for intra-Afghan dialogue

AT News Report

KABUL: The US peace envoy for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad claims that serious steps were not taken from Afghans regarding the peace process and an intra-Afghan dialogue, despite the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan would pose no threat to the world.

“No serious steps have been taken over intra-Afghan dialogue as well as there is no development for a prominent ceasefire and end of war,” the US diplomat said in a video message to some Afghan youth in the US embassy to Kabul.

He emphasized that it was the time for ending war in Afghanistan and the developments should be supported in the country.

“My job as a US representative is to help Afghans for putting an end to the war. The world should be convinced and assured that no danger poses them from Afghan soil.”

The US Ambassador to Kabul, John Bass also emphasized that Afghans need to make efforts for a sustainable peace in their country beside Washington’s efforts.

“We are committed in helping the people of this country either inside or outside the government to rebuild their country and an opportunity should be provided in which Afghans live in peace and dignity,” said ambassador Bass.
