Khost residents kill 12 Taliban

AT-KABUL: Local residents in eastern Khost province killed at least 12 Taliban militants after they attacked their residential houses in Zazai Maidan district of the province, local security officials said on Wednesday.

“Local residents gave tit-for-tat response to the Taliban attack in Deri Mila area of the district with the support of the Afghan security forces,” District Security Chief, General Azizullah said.

He added that one resident was killed and two others received injures during exchange firings between them and the Taliban. “The Taliban insurgents after sustaining huge causalities fled the area.”

However, there is no immediate comment posed by the group into the matter.

Khost is among the relatively peaceful provinces in eastern Afghanistan.

In the past, security officials in Khost province lauded the Afghan security forces for their indefatigable efforts to down insurgent activates in the province.
