KABUL: A top Russian official said that Moscow is still keen to host another round of intra-Afghan dialogue.
“We considered the holding of intra-Afghan negotiations a possibility,” said Zamir Kabuluv, Russian Representative for Afghanistan. However, he said that it is too soon to talk about it and its exact date and time.
Russia had earlier hosted two rounds of intra-Afghan dialogues, in which some top Afghan politicians and representatives of the Taliban participated. They exchange views on how to end the conflict during the meeting in that time.
“If the current Afghan peace process is suspended Moscow would offer tremendous effort to bring the negotiating sides on table back in immediate move,” he said.
However, he earlier had said that Russia and Iran are concerned about the severe situation in Afghanistan.
Last week, the Afghan peace negotiating team left Kabul for Doha to resume the second round of the intra-Afghan negotiations with the Taliban. After reaching a breakthrough on the procedure of the talks in the first round, both sides decided to take a three-week break to consult with the leadership.
